The Amex Everyday Credit Card is definitely not among the top-rated Rewards Credit Cards. Yet you can easily review the list of best rewards cards by what I consider are better alternatives. The Amex Everyday Card comes with a decent rewards program on purchases made in U.S. groceries. However, this is actually only a part of what this card can offer to its users. I will try to go through each of the aspects of this card and I will describe them in a simple manner.
As this is an area everyday credit card, it will offer you an opportunity to earn some bonus points. You get these points in the form of cash or other rewards that you can use as you please. The points can be exchanged for air tickets and various hotel rooms when you book them through this card. This benefit of earning points can be used to offset any other expenses you may have. The point earning schedule depends on what benefits you decide to exchange for rewards.
One of the major features of this amex everyday credit card is its long-term rewards rate program. This is also similar to the popular MasterCard and Visa cards, which allow frequent cardholders to accumulate points that will be exchanged for cash. You get to earn up to six thousand points every year and you can redeem them for air miles, hotels and other services. This gives you an opportunity to spend less on other things that your money could have been spent on instead.
With the long-term APR offer, I found that the balance transfer offers from other supermarkets were cheaper compared to those offered for the regular APR. With the same purchases done with the Everyday credit, I get the regular APR plus one percent of the total amount I have in my account, regardless of the value of the purchases. These values are automatically transferred into my checking account each month. I also earn five percent bonus points for each dollar I have in my savings account. It is a very good deal considering the annual fee and the zero percent APR for the first six months of the agreement.
There are some disadvantages I noticed with this card, like having to pay a transaction fee for each purchase I made and having to pay a transaction fee for every hundred and twenty-five dollars spent over the first three months. These transactions fees will make a significant difference, especially if you frequently buy gifts for your loved ones. Also, the welcome bonus points seemed useless since I got no benefit from them as long as I didn't use them during my introductory period. The grace period didn't seem long enough.
It was only after I had made twelve payments that I noticed that the annual fee was waived, but it seemed like the benefits were decreasing each month anyway. I decided to cancel my amex everyday credit cards, which gave me great relief from stress and provided me with more spending money each month. I decided to keep the zero percent APR for six months so that I could enjoy all the rewards I had earned without paying any interest. After six months, I again noticed that the zero percent APR was being waived and I only had to pay the one-cent charge for a purchase. This helped me to save money each month without any additional effort on my part.
